The 12th century Duomo of Salerno is an amazing sight. In the evening, a stroll along the Lungomare, a boulevard lined with palm trees affords a grand view of the sea and the surrounding hills. The Villa Communale, in the centre of the city, is a peaceful oasis of green with large plants, giant flowers, and plenty of spaces to sit. If you listen carefully, you may hear the beautiful melodies of music boxes.
Venture out of Salerno towards Vietri sul Mare and head out on one the most dramatic and breathtaking drives in the world, the Amalfi Coast Drive. Famous for its winding, narrow, and challenging roadway, it offers spectacular views of the sea and coastline.
Several excellent restaurants are situated in Salerno and nearby, offering a wide variety of food. If you are interested in the local pizza, try Il Vicolo della Neve in the centre of town, one of the oldest restaurants in Salerno and also famous for its pasta e fagioli (pasta with beans).
