Salou offers gentle beaches and a multitude of exciting fiestas in August to add to its family appeal. The beach not only includes the very clean, flat promenade, but also a children's play area. You can expect long faces when it is time to leave for home, because this vibrant resort on Spain's Costa Dorada goes out of its way to provide entertainment for the young and young at heart.
A good selection of souvenir and fashion stores are available in the town and, for more extensive shopping, the shopping Mecca of Barcelona, is just 40 minutes away. A flea market in the old town centre is held on each Monday of the week, and visitors enjoy browsing for treasures here.
The town boasts plenty of good Spanish and seafood restaurants, and others that appeal to British palates. Dining out is quite economical.
