The United States is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations. It offers many wonderful things to experience ranging from the celebrities and wealth found in Hollywood, to the famous Broadway musicals of New York City. Whether you like hiking, fishing, shopping, surfing, or seeing the cultural arts, the United States offers it all.
The Rocky Mountains extend north and south along the western edge of the Great Plains and reach altitudes higher than 14,000 feet. This offers a great deal of opportunity for hiking, skiing, and taking in the fresh air offered by bulk amounts of pine trees. If surfing is your passion, then you will want to soak up the sun and fun offered on the vast amount of shore lines that extent on both the west and east coasts of the United States. You will also love the relaxed atmosphere of the tropical shores located on the Hawaiian Islands. The Mississippi/Missouri River is the world's fourth largest river system and it flows north-south through the heart of the country. Here you will find swamplands known for wonderful animal and plant life. You will not want to miss the active volcano's located in Alaska, nor the underground volcano located in the Yellowstone National Park.
Because of the large geographic area of the United States, you will find a climate that suits most everyone. You will find humid conditions in the east ranging from moderate conditions to the north, and more tropical humidity to the southern tip of Florida. The climate is arid in the Great Basin section of the country; desert in the southwest; and most of Alaska is subarctic or polar conditions. Extreme weather is not uncommon. You will find hurricanes in the states bordering the Gulf of UnitedStates, and tornadoes can be found in the Midwest.
